The Danang-based Vitours has launched new helicopter tours around destinations in Central Vietnam, taking in sites in Danang, Cham Island in Quang Nam, Ly Son Island off Quang Ngai and Con Co Island off Quang Tri.

The company offers four tours, including the half-day Danang City tour, the one-day tour from Danang to Cham Island and My Son, the one day tour from Danang to Con Co Island, and last one linking Danang and Ly Son Island, also in one day.

The half-day Danang City tour for groups of 16 to 19 people costs from US$340 to US$375 per tourist depending on the kind of helicopters in use, said the company’s director.

Vitours has also launched chartered flights for tourists. Customers can hire the 12-seat helicopter coded EC 155 B1 at the price of US$7,500 per hour, or US$3,800 per hour for the MI 17 helicopter of 24 seats, and US$4,150 per hour for the MI 172 helicopter of 24 seats.

Cao Tri Dung, Director of Vitours, said last weekend that the company has signed an agreement with the Northern Service Flight Company to arrange the new services. The airline has brought some helicopters to Danang airport for the tours.

“In the past, we could not arrange copter tours as it would be very costly to arrange a helicopter from Hanoi. Under the deal inked last week, we have become the exclusive company to sell helicopter services,” he said.

The company is focusing on foreign travelers who want to experience a new travel service in Danang, as well as investors and other corporate guests who want to use helicopter to travel and visit their projects in the city and neighboring provinces.

“We have customers from some companies this month and next. As for leisure travelers, we will promote the tour after Tet 2011 (Lunar New Year), and we expect to woo more visitors in the summer season,” Dung said.
